Malaga second runway to open in 2012
The Manager of Malaga Airport, Mario Otero, has reported that the second runway will be completed in 2011 and that work is already 80% complete. Once finished, the runway will still need to go through the normal processes to obtain certificates of quality, etc and this will delay its opening until 2012.
This, he said, was not as important, as most of the time the existing runway is not busy. What was important, according to Otero, was to get Terminal 3 up and running, and the decision has paid off, as more than 9.5 million passengers have used the new terminal since it was inaugurated in March 2010.
