British murder suspect arrested in Marbella
ONE of Britain’s most-wanted fugitives has been caught on the Costa del Sol.
Police say the accused is thought to have been involved in a murder at gunpoint in 2006 and had a European Arrest Warrant over his head.
The victim, electrician Rocky Dawson, 24, was killed upon leaving his parents’ house four years ago.
He was putting his son and his partner’s son in his car when a dark-coloured vehicle pulled up and the driver opened fire. Mr Dawson died instantly in his mother’s arms.
Later, hitman Christopher Pearman of Waltham Abbey (Essex) was sentenced to life imprisonment at the beginning of 2007 after pleading guilty.
The chief suspect, James Tomkins aged 61, fled the UK soon after the crime and is said to have been kept under cover by a group of friends in Marbella where he has been living.
Tomkins, whose motives for commissioning the killing are unknown, is said to have used a number of pseudonyms including O’Flynn, Raymond John Farmer and his nickname ‘Jimbles’.
Following his arrest, Tomkins is likely to be extradited to the UK.
