Annual fair begins in Fuengirola
This evening sees the start of the annual Feria Internacional de los Pueblos in Fuengirola, one of the most important of this type of annual fairs in Spain.
More than 33 countries will take part in the fair which attracted more than 900,000 visitors last year and created jobs for over 500 people and boosted local hotel occupation to 100%.
It starts tonight from 8.30pm and runds until Sunday. This year will see newcomers from Hawaii, Thailand, Bulgaria and Portugal with traditional performances of their dancing and music as well as the sale of food and drink and traditional handicrafts.
Other countries participating are Germany, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, India, Ireland, Jordan, Japan, Morocco, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Palestine, Paraguay, Persia, Peru, Scotland, Uruguay and Venezuela as well as the Spanish regions of Asturias, Cadiz, Galicia and, of course, Fuengirola.
There will be a street parade of all the participants from the centre of Fuengirola to the fairground which starts on Saturday 1st May at 12.30 pm.
The fair opens daily from 1pm.
