New Malaga Airport terminal will have more police
MALAGA – POLICE presence at Malaga Airport will be increased with the opening of the new T-3 terminal on March 15, coinciding with one of the busiest periods of the year, Easter. There will initially be 10 new officers, but this number will be increased over the year, as Malaga is one of the hotspots for drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
Officers at the airport had been long awaiting back up, especially during the busiest periods, and they even staged a strike last year which affected at least twelve flights.
At the airport, there are National and Local Police, Guardia Civil and private security, all of which will be increased with the new terminal, which will be inaugurated by King Juan Carlos 1 on March 15, amongst 500 guests and exceptional police presence.
