The good news is that the Spanish buy-to-let market is bouncing back.

Publicised tales of town hall corruption and illegal building have badly dented the new development market in southern Spain but one good thing to come out of all this is that apartments and villas for the buy-to-let market are suddenly back in fashion.

More and more people in every sector are looking at buy-to-let. Rentals are now becoming big business because more people are buying properties to live in part of the year and let out the rest of the time. It all makes for a healthy buy-to-let market.

People are still buying off-plan with the aim of letting their property but the resale market is becoming more popular. Another factor encouraging the continuing flow of British buyers is the change in the mortgage market. Spanish lenders are now recognising the buy-to-let market and are happy to lend higher loan to value percentages.
